Do you live in a village where lighting is not working, or often move on foot in places where there is reduced visibility? Then, prepare your wallet. Ministry of Transport she wants to instruct pedestrians to wear reflective vests or at least clothing with reflective elements.

The reason for the proposal by the Ministry of Transport is safety of pedestrians. "Especially in reduced visibility considerably shortens the distance at which the driver is able to spot pedestrians moving without reflectors on the road, which leads to accidents, often fatal," said the office of Minister Anthony Parched (YES) in the explanatory memorandum to its proposal.

The Ministry proposes that pedestrians wear reflective clothing and in a situation where they go on the road or any other road without street lighting and poor visibility. "Reduced visibility refers particularly dawn, dusk and night, during the day, especially fog and heavy rain," he says.

Acquisition costs are not reflective elements according to the ministry too high. "Because it does not provide a detailed specification properties (dimensions, material) nor the location of the reflective element on the garment (only general requirement for visibility by other road users), these costs will on the part of pedestrians relatively low (cost of purchase reflective band on the sleeve of about thirty to forty crowns per pedestrian) and essentially disposable, "says the ministry. These costs may also be lower in view of the fact that in particular sportswear already in itself often has integrated reflective elements, logos, strips and the like.

Reflective vests or sleeves while one will have to carry in a reflective backpack or bag almost all the time. At least it is clear from the statement of the Ministry: "The above acquisition costs reflective element will have potentially give every pedestrian as they can get into a situation where it will be obliged to use." On the other hand, in areas with dense buildings can reckon with the existence of sidewalks and public lighting, where it would be obliged to have a reflective element, and therefore, this option does not mean, for example, an area required to wear after dark in cities reflective elements, office supplies.
