For some young schoolchildren the daily commute to school is done every day by bike.
Road safety takes the opportunity to remind parents that it is essential to sensitize them to the traps of the road and traffic whether in town or in the countryside.
"Teach your child to respect signage, signs, lights, markings on the ground, and drive well to the right, use bike lanes when they exist and reach out to indicate which way he wants to turn."
Equipment question, first of all, the first thing to remember is that on a bike, wearing a helmet is mandatory for children under 12 years old. "It protects the head in case of a fall, one of the most fragile parts of the body," say the specialists.
To protect your hands, elbows and knees from falling, you can also encourage your child to wear equipment such as elbow pads, kneepads, gloves and wrist guards.
Finally, to be clearly visible, small cyclists as well as adults can also put on a retro-reflective vest. Not required but highly recommended for more security!
