This year's longest-running social campaign "Protect Me" will take place on the 20th of September. Throughout Lithuania, as well as in Utena district municipality, September is declared the month of safe traffic.
In case of an accident - free insurance
The initiator of the "Protect Me" campaign is the largest insurance company Lietuvos Draudimas, as well as every year throughout September, all of Utena district insured person. The insurance will be valid throughout Lithuania 24 hours a day if a student suffers an accident while traveling on foot. The amount of insurance donated to each student - 5 thousand. euros.
"The insurance coverage for school-age children will come into effect automatically on the very first day of the school year, so parents don't have to do anything. Most importantly, in the event of a road accident, they should know that they can contact us for compensation for the damage suffered," says Renata Juodė, Head of Aukštaitija Branch of Lietuvos Draudimas.
Provide safe crossings
Utena District Municipality staff will mark the crossing near the schools with a prominent "Protect Me" sign, recognized by the vast majority of drivers and pedestrians.
"The most important lesson for us as adults is to protect the travel of children and schoolchildren so that they can reach home and school safely and healthily. Little road users are often distracted and less attentive after a long summer holiday, so we traditionally invite all drivers to be more careful and parents to remind their children how to safely cross the street," says Renata Juodė, Head of Aukštaitija Branch of Lietuvos Draudimas.

Lietuvos Draudimas insures all students on foot or by bicycle. In the event of an accident, parents or guardians are invited to notify Lietuvos Draudimas immediately by calling 1828. After registering the event, the company's specialists will explain in detail what to do next.
In total, the parents of 93 affected pupils have approached Lietuvos Draudimas since the start of the campaign, with damages of more than EUR 40,000.
Also, for the third year in a row, Lietuvos Draudimas will donate more than 12,000 reflective vests to safer outings for district elementary school students. In 2017-2018, as many as 212 districts elementary students were provided with such vests, and this year 11 more district elementary students will receive them. The "Protect Me" campaign initiated by Lietuvos dramas has been taking place since 2000 and has become an autumn tradition. It is estimated that around 1 thousand people will be marked with special promotional marks in Lithuanian cities and towns this year. There will be more than 320 thousand students insured by Lietuvos Draudimas. During the campaign, other traffic safety measures are planned to help reduce accidents on Lithuanian roads.
