Due to the dilemma between motorcyclists for the mandatory use of reflective vest or not, the district authorities recommended use 24 hours, although the Ministry of Transport said that its use is only between 6:00 pm and 6:00 in the morning.
The National Traffic Code of 2002, article 94 in its general rules for motorcyclists, says: "The drivers of these types of vehicles must use reflective vests or jackets identification." The 2008 reform law in 1239 states: "may bring a guest who must also wear a helmet and reflective clothing required for the driver".
To the authorities of Bogotá it is not decisive than required use the vest or jacket in the daytime. Therefore, they do not agree with the decision taken by the Legal Office of the Ministry of Transport.
Under Secretary of Mobility Services, Angela Arenas stressed the importance of using the vest. "We believe that whether or not a violation, we believe the vest absolutely indispensable as a condition of the motorcyclist safety," said the official.
