The Prefecture launches this Monday, a great campaign of communication of road safety. Since the beginning of the year, twelve people have lost their lives on the roads in Guadeloupe. An assessment that the authorities want to lower.
A mourning triangle on a black background with above a counter where the death toll is displayed and this slogan: "Do not be the next victim".
This is how the poster of the new communication campaign launched this Monday by the Prefecture of Guadeloupe.
Twelve people have lost their lives on the roads since the beginning of 2018: 3 motorists, 4 bikers, 2 moped riders, a cyclist and two pedestrians. No user is spared and every week, a new family is challenged by a new drama.
Yet the authorities want to remind, die on the road in Guadeloupe is not a fatality but a question of citizenship. Because road safety is everyone's business and many dramas can be avoided simply by respecting the simple gestures established in the Highway Code, such as not using your phone while driving or wearing a reflective vest when traveling at night.
This new campaign is coordinated by the Departmental Road Safety Unit of DEAL and carried out by the Baie-Mahault PBO agency.
For two weeks a hundred panels will display throughout the archipelago. A TV spot will also broadcast on the public television channel.
The message is intentionally sober to be more impactful. This is to encourage every road user to exercise caution and civility.
This communication campaign responds to the prefect's priorities for the year in terms of road safety. The authorities plan to increase the number of prevention messages but also to increase law enforcement operations with the reinforcement of roadside checks and the deployment of new devices such as turret radars, the first of which will be operational by the end of the year.
