September is the month par excellence of the pilgrimages, because they coincide two of the religious celebrations that are more fervently lived by the faithful. Precisely yesterday was a big day for the latter, because it was carried out the rise of the image of the Virgin to the sanctuary, followed, as always, a marabout of walkers.
The heat was felt throughout the morning, something that took its toll on the forces of the pilgrims, many of whom came walking from their places of origin, so the climb was an added effort. It was not a problem, however, for Andrés. He confessed to his little trick to cope better with the high temperatures: once the big climb of the journey arrived. It was shirt! And to continue only with the reflective vest.
Young and not so young integrated the long language of pilgrims who at the edge of noon began their journey facing the sanctuary, where the image will remain until the end of the celebration. Religious services will continue in the coming days, with Masses from 10 to 12 and from 5 to 8 pm. Saturday, day 8, will be the central day of the pilgrimage and there will be offices at 9, 10, 11 and 12, with the solemn Mass - sung - scheduled for one in the afternoon. In the afternoon, even more Masses: 17, 18, 19 and 20 hours. On Sunday, at noon, will be carried out by the descent of the image in procession.
Everything ready for the Boat
"Walking to Barca" goes with family or friends, with the couple, with children... It is almost an obligation for a large part of the region to arrive on these dates of September, and in fact there are many clubs and associations that have already set annual appointments around these pilgrimages. Residents of A Peregrine recently completed their journey, but also from the association scheduled for yesterday for a walk with a feast and return by bus included.
In Media they have been preparing for their great pilgrimage for a few days and, in addition to an exhibition of old posters of the festival and a cultural week with appointments of all kinds, the religious program continues with the novena: every day at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. .
There is also a broad security operation coordinated by Civil Protection volunteers, who insist on the need to walk through pedestrian areas and use the relevant visible devices, like safety clothing and reflective tapes.
