LINZ. "Visibly safer" on the way to school and during leisure time: In the first week of school, 20,000 children's warning vests will once again be distributed to all Upper Austrian school beginners.
Road traffic is both a challenge and a danger for children. Childish cockiness, a strong urge to move, distraction and a lack of judgment create additional risks. Also, with the beginning of autumn fog and poor visibility are added.
"Most children are on their own as Taferlklassler on the way to school for the first time. Even though parents practice the way to school with their children exemplary and diligent in the last weeks before school starts, the children are often still unable to assess the dangers on the roads. Reflecting safety vests with reflective tapes should be a constant companion for the children so that the children are seen by car drivers and other road users as soon as possible. With the safety vests, we make a valuable contribution to child accident prevention. I would like to thank our cooperation partners for the support," says family representative Deputy Governor Manfred Haimbuchner.
20,000 safety vests
In total, 20,000 warning vests will be distributed to Upper Austria's new schoolchildren in elementary schools this year. The personal handing over of the protective vests is carried out by the police nationwide in the whole of Upper Austria at the beginning of school directly in the schools.
