In the ordinary session of the City Council held on Wednesday, councilors of the City of Oaxaca de Juárez highlighted the investment of more than 27 million pesos to strengthen the security tasks in the city, which they are in charge of the Directorate of Public Safety, Roads and Citizen Protection.
In a statement, it was reported that Municipal President Oswaldo García Jarquín recapitulated the acquisition of more than 100 vehicles and protective equipment, whose main objective is to strengthen the security actions undertaken through the Vigilante Operative, on the occasion of the traditional festivities of July, the month of the Guelaguetza.
The mayor of the capital shared that to have a police force that provides immediate responses to calls for support and assistance to the population, as well as inhibiting the criminal incidence, were delivered to the Directorate of Public Safety, Roads and Citizen Protection, 10 double vans cockpit with adaptations and equipment for assault patrol, 2 pick-up trucks with double cabins, 132 ballistic helmets and 216 reinforced high visibility vests. As well as 100 anti-riot protection systems that include: gloves, helmets, tonfa, elbow pads, leg locks, chest protectors, back and shield protectors, 108 portable radios, 50 spider-type immobilizer locks and 20 Civil Protection uniforms including trousers, shirt, jacket and a pair of tactical boots.
In this context, García Jarquín said that the motor units are already providing service to society and clarified that vehicles that have a different color to the specifications dictated in the Law of the State Public Safety System, will be appropriate to the chromatic established in that document, within a period not exceeding 60 days. He also mentioned that the City of Oaxaca de Juárez will not disburse resources for this purpose since the Oaxacan company that won the public tender will cover the amount. Also, García Jarquín shared that together with an important investment, it works in a coordinated manner with the three levels of government. "I am convinced that with the arrival of the National Guard, the insecurity and the perception of it will diminish, the important thing is to maintain this type of investments, which, unfortunately, for whatever reasons, were left to do in previous administrations", he said.
In this context, the city councilors endorsed the actions and investments that the City Council undertakes to strengthen and guarantee the physical and patrimonial security of the Oaxacans. "All citizens of good and all authorities in favor of that common good celebrate and investments how are you in favor of public safety," said the Regulator of Health, Health and Welfare, María de Los Ángeles Gómez Sandoval Hernández, who also thanked the broad explanation that the mayor offered to detail details of the acquisition of vehicles, equipment and chromatic tonalities of these, as noted that thus avoid confusion and misunderstanding.
Speaking, the Regulator of Municipal Regulations and Nomenclature and the Office of the Comptroller and Open Government, René González Sánchez, stressed that investment in public security is a joint effort in the search for a safer and more peaceful city. Meanwhile, the Minister of Agencies and Colonies and the Safe Municipality and Mobility, Ismael Cruz Gaytán, recognized the importance of this investment to strengthen and dignify the working conditions of the police elements, for the tranquility of the families of the city.
During the release of the agenda, the councilors unanimously approved the opinion promoted by the Safety and Mobility Commission of the Municipality of Oaxaca de Juárez, which establishes the authorization of the "Temporary Parking Program", which will allow drivers of private vehicles park in places designated as prohibited, except for drawers for people with disabilities, in order to provide greater comfort to those who visit the city, from July 11 to August 25.
